As the summer season quickly approaches, families and friends gear up for outdoor activities, which often come with the inevitable skinned knees, bug bites, and sunburns. However, we must also be prepared for more serious injuries like broken bones or severe cuts. Being equipped to handle such situations requires not only a well-stocked first aid kit but also the necessary skills to assist those in need.

It’s important not only to have plenty of first aid supplies, but to have the right ones. A holistic first aid kit should include essentials like adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze pads, ice packs, and a variety of over-the-counter medications. Additionally, incorporating items like sunscreen, insect repellent, and a first aid manual can further enhance preparedness.

A Holistic First Aid Kit might include:

  • Bandages-least two dozen individually wrapped adhesive tapes in assorted shapes and sizes, along with several sterile gauze pads in case of a serious wound – the larger the pads the better, as they have many potential uses.

  • Gel pack

  • Elastic bandages

  • Alcohol pads

  • Disposable gloves
